Block Sleeving Rohnert Park
Precision Block Sleeving for All Projects
Block sleeving is a process that restores and reinforces the cylinder walls of an engine. Wear and tear can lead to scoring and other damage to the factory cylinder walls. While engine blocks can be bored over to fit a larger piston and gain a fresh wall, there is a limited amount of material available to remove.
Sleeves are metal tubes that fit in the factory cylinders of your engine block. By adding material, you have more flexibility in piston size, and can keep an engine block in service longer.
Types of Block Sleeves
While the concept is the same, there are two types of engine sleeving, dry sleeves and wet sleeves.
Dry Sleeving
Dry sleeves are fit into a cylinder that fully covers coolant passages (water jackets). Dry sleeves do not come into direct contact with coolant flowing through the engine. Dry sleeves are simpler to install, but are not as effective at thermal regulation.
Wet Sleeving
Wet sleeves come in direct contact with the coolant flowing through the engine block. Wet sleeves are more complicated, but do a better job dissipating heat.
